Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers are used to fill or replace the lost volume in static wrinkles, lines and folds. Unlike anti-wrinkle injections they do not effect facial muscle contraction.

Dermal fillers, generally are used to treat wrinkles, lines and folds that appear and rest rather than those that appear during facial expressions.

They are suitable for both men and women of any age who would like to reduce lines and folds and rejuvenate their facial features.

Common areas treated are:

  • Lips
  • Cheeks
  • Tear troughs
  • Chin
  • Nose
  • Brows
  • Naso labial folds
  • Mouth corners
  • Static Wrinkles

What are dermal fillers made of?

Dermal Fillers Before After

They are a smooth injectable gel that is made from a natural occurring complex sugar. It is found within the living tissue of living cells including human skin. The Gel assists in skin hydration by attracting and holding water and also combines with collagen and elastin to provide skin structure and elasticity.

This delivers a long lasting, natural look and feel to the treated area.

What does the treatment involve and how long does the product last?

The gel is administered through a few injections by a trained medical professional. A topical anaesthetic cream can be applied to help numb the area being treated. The procedure takes approximately approximatley 30 minutes to 1 hour and most people resume normal activities immediately after the procedure.

How long the product lasts will vary from person to person depending on how quickly your body metabolises (breaks down) the Gel. Generally, depending on which dermal filler is used, results last from 8 months to 2 years.

What are the side effects from dermal fillers?

The Gel in injectable an a naturally occurring complex sugar that is naturally present within the skin tissue, therefore there is no need for allergy pre-test before treatment.

The injection itself causes minimal discomfort and you may experience no side effects at all, however if you do they are temporary and injections site related.

You may experience treatment area redness, pain, firmness, swelling, bruising, itching or discolouration. Again these effects are generally temporary but may last up to a week.
